According to a media report, Amazon wants to bring its online offering more into traditional retail.
The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday, citing people familiar with the matter, that several large stores were to be opened in the United States.
Some of the stores, which are said to be up to 2,800 square feet, would be built in the US states of Ohio and California. Amazon was initially not available for comment.
The world’s largest online retailer already does business – primarily for books and groceries – in several US states. The US company from Seattle has so far benefited from the online boom, which was accelerated again by the coronavirus crisis. However, in view of the ongoing vaccination campaigns, more Americans are now shopping in conventional stores.
