“Black Adam,” starring Dwayne Johnson, famous as “The Rock,” topped the box office in North American cinemas at the weekend, according to preliminary figures announced by the specialist “Expert Relations” company.
The movie, based on the DC Comics comics, centers around the story of a hero of the same name, #BlackAdam, a fictional character who first appeared in the comics, published by DC Comics in the 1940s.
BlackAdam is once a corrupt villain, has become a different kind of hero, unpredictable, and known for his disregard for rules and conventions.
The Warner Bros. movie grossed an estimated $67 million, the biggest gross for a movie starring “The Rock.”
And the French news agency said that its total worldwide revenue of 140 million dollars since its release 3 days ago in 4,402 theaters, according to the “Box Office Mojo” website, while the budget of the film is 195 million dollars.
Black Adam follows the titular character, an antihero in the world of DC Comics, as he fights for the people of Kahndaq (and often the Justice Society of America) against the villain Sabbac. The film assembles quite the cast as it brings together many characters from the comics, many of whom are making their live-action debut in Black Adam.
