Around 16 years after his bestseller “The Road“, US author Cormac McCarthy is publishing two new novels this year.

“The Passenger” should appear on October 25th, “Stella Maris” on November 22nd, announced the button publishing house. The two books, which are linked in terms of content, are about the story of the siblings Bobby and Alicia Western and are set eight years apart.
The German language translations are published by Rowohlt Verlag at the same time. “This double novel about the limits of human cognitive abilities is the literary and philosophical legacy of one of the greatest of American literature and an incomparable intellectual pleasure to read,” said Rowohlt publisher Nicola Bartels.
The 88-year-old, who is one of the most successful and important authors of his generation in the USA, has published around a dozen works to date – but not a novel since the bestseller “Die Straße” in 2006. Among other things, McCarthy was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, many of his works have been filmed, including “No Country for Old Men“. Books By Cormac McCarthy.

Cormac McCarthy (born Charles McCarthy on July 20, 1933 in Providence, Rhode Island) is the American author of ten novels, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Road, No Country for Old Men, and All the Pretty Horses. He received the U.S. National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award for All the Pretty Horses and his novel Blood Meridian was included in Time magazine’s list of 100 best English-language books. He is also the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and the MacArthurt Fellowship.
