The hard lockdown starts today in Germany. Private meetings are still limited to your own household and one other household.
Germany – A maximum of five people can come together. Children up to 14 years are not counted. A special rule applies for Christmas (December 24th to 26th).
Meetings are prohibited throughout Germany on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The sale of pyrotechnics is prohibited and New Year’s Eve fireworks are strongly discouraged.
The retail trade is largely closed. Exceptions are grocery stores, pharmacies and drugstores, post offices and newspaper sales, pet supplies and feed markets and the sale of Christmas trees. Body care service providers such as hairdressing salons, cosmetic studios or massage practices must also close.
Restaurants are also closed. Drinking alcohol in public places is prohibited. Medically necessary treatments remain possible. The schools are generally closed, emergency care is ensured and distance learning is offered. The measures should last until January 10th. Source
