A large fire at the site of an explosion in the Jordanian city of Zarqa
An official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army said that an explosion occurred at dawn today, Friday, in one of the munitions depots under dismantling near the city of Zarqa.
The source confirmed that the warehouses where the explosion occurred are located in an uninhabited area, and a committee has been formed to determine the causes of the explosion.
This comes while the Jordanian security denied issuing any statement about the explosion that occurred in the Al-Ghabawi area in the Zarqa Governorate, northeast of the capital, Amman, which killed two people and wounded 3 others, according to local Jordanian media.
And local media reported that the explosion was caused by a bomb left by the Internal Security Agency in the Ghabawi area, where the accident resulted in two deaths and three injuries. They were treated at the hospital.
Activists on social media in Jordan circulated videos showing explosions that they said took place in the city of Zarqa, east of the capital, Amman.
An eyewitness, speaking in a video clip he filmed, said that he heard a strong explosion in the area of ”Kho”.
And local media had previously reported that the explosion occurred outside the residential sites in the city, while it is likely that it occurred in one of the ammunition depots of the armed forces.
