New York City Cancels Contracts With Trump Organization
New York City will terminate its business relationship with President Trump, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday morning, the latest consequence the president is facing for last week’s attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Forbes – De Blasio told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that the city is pulling all of its contracts with the Trump Organization, which is made up of hundreds of businesses owned by Trump, a Queens native.
“New York City has severed all ties with the Trump organization due to criminal activity,” said de Blasio.
The Trump Organization has contracts to run two ice-skating rinks in Central Park, the Central Park Carousel and a golf course in the Bronx.

These contracts—which the city said it could take a month or so to terminate—bring the president’s company $17 million a year, according to financial disclosures.
The cancellation of these contracts will impact some of the president’s oldest businesses, created when he was still gaining recognition as a real estate developer in New York.
The Trump Organization and the Trump Campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
“Inciting an insurrection against the U.S. government clearly constitutes criminal activity,” said de Blasio. “The city of New York will no longer have anything to do with the Trump Organization.”
President Trump has faced significant blowback for the Capitol attack, though he denies any responsibility for how the day unfolded. New York-based Signature Bank, which Trump has done business with since at least 2011, closed the president’s personal bank accounts and called for his resignation. PGA of America canceled plans to hold the 2022 PGA Championships at Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Nearly all major social media platforms—Twitter, Facebook, YouTube—have suspended or banned the president’s accounts. Major companies, including Amazon, Best Buy and Disney, have suspended political donations for Republicans who supported Trump’s bid to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s win in Congress.
