Oscar Nominations 2022

Oscar Nominations 2022 will be announced in Hollywood this afternoon (CET). Major productions such as the science fiction film Dune.

Steven Spielberg’s remake of the film musical West Side Story and Kenneth Branagh’s Northern Ireland drama Belfast are traded as favourites.

With the western “The Power of the Dog”, New Zealander Jane Campion could be the first woman to be nominated for a director’s Oscar for a second time, 28 years after “The Piano”.

The nominations will be announced by fellow US actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan. The 94th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood is scheduled for March 27th.

Between January 27 and February 1, 9,847 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences can cast their votes for 276 films eligible for the 94th annual Academy Awards.

They tend to favor biographies, serious dramas, and historical epics. But that doesn’t mean a blockbuster like “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which single-handedly revived slumping box office sales at the end of last year, or James Bond’s “No Time to Die” couldn’t sneak in.
