Many Lebanese use their own diesel generator sets to generate electricity in their homes because Power grid in Lebanon completely failed. However, diesel is also in short supply.
Beirut – Because the two largest and most important power plants in Lebanon had to be shut down due to a lack of oil, according to Reuters, the electricity grid across the country went down yesterday. According to the authorities, the failure could last for several days.
“The Lebanese electricity network stopped working completely at lunchtime. It is unlikely to be up and running again by Monday, ”said one official. The state electricity company also confirmed that the thermoelectric power plant in Sahrani is currently no longer generating electricity. The Deir Ammar power plant went offline the day before.
The shutdown of the two power plants “directly affected” the stability in the electricity grid and led to the total failure, according to the energy company, which “currently” also sees “no possibility of restarting”.
