The storming of the Capitol with five dead a year and a half ago caused horror around the world.
USA– The parliamentary U-Committee is now presenting its first findings on the role played by ex-President Donald Trump in the riots on January 6, 2021.
The committee will reveal “new details” about the Capitol violence and make it clear that the storming of the seat of parliament was part of a conspiracy by Trump and his associates to illegitimately hold power, a panel official said.
The events of January 6 were the result of a coordinated campaign aimed at overturning the outcome of the presidential election “and stopping Donald Trump’s transfer of power to Joe Biden,” the committee official said. “And indeed, former President Donald Trump has been at the center of that effort.”
On January 6, Trump called on his supporters in an incendiary speech to march to the Capitol and fight “whatever the hell”. The right-wing populist also repeated his repeatedly refuted allegations that he had been deprived of a second term through serious election fraud.
The storming of the Capitol with five dead is considered a black day in the history of US democracy. According to the assessment of the parliamentary committee, Trump had created the basis for the storming of the Capitol for months through his unsubstantiated allegations of alleged election fraud.
