Tayla Parx wants to help change the mood of isolation in the world.
With her short but lovely song “Not the Only Christmas Song,” Parx gives sincere thanks to her significant other, for helping her turn a secluded year into a year full of love. “Thank you for being there, it’s really a gift,” she said loudly in the chorus. “Since I came, this isn’t a single birthday song.”
Parx is currently in a relationship with a woman, but she told Insider that she prefers to write songs without gender-specific pronouns.
“I’ve always been a fan of keeping things gender neutral, honestly,” she said,” because of the fact that I’m bi, so sometimes my song is about a boy, sometimes it’s about a girl.”
“I really like keeping it inclusive,” Parx continued. “I really love when somebody can come up to me and say, ‘I went through this with my partner,’ whoever that partner is — whether it’s a him or her, or whatever their pronoun is.”
